How to make a new web using this web template

  1. Go to File/New/Web (2000) or File/New/Page or Web (2002).
  2. In 2002, you will need to click "Web Template" in the right side taskbar.
  3. Choose the "Contemporary Christian" web template, and specify the location you want to publish to.
  4. Click "OK" and wait for FrontPage to create your new web.

How to make a new page

  1. Open a page with a layout that you want to use for your new page.
  2. Go to File > Save As.
  3. Enter a new file name (no spaces or special characters) and change the Page Title, then click OK.
  4. Switch to Navigation View. Drag your new page into the navigation structure to add it to link bars.
  5. Open the page. You will now need to configure the Flash page banner. Please see below for more information.
  6. You may now edit the page as desired.

Editing the include pages

The logo, tagline, and copyright statement are in include pages for your editing convenience. By opening "includes/logo.htm," "includes/top.htm," or "includes/copyright.htm," you can make edits, save, and FrontPage will automatically update all the pages in your web site.

Your Logo Here Image

Delete the "Your Logo here" image and replace it with your own logo image! Open "includes/logo.htm" to edit the logo area.

Big Text area

The home page (and Template 1) have a big text area. This is the area that your viewer will see first, so make good use of this area! See Template 1 for how to change the background image.

Left column

The left column may be used for small images, or you may use them to insert more navigation bars. Be sure to see the other page templates to see some ideas of how you can lay out your pages.

Horizontal Menu Bar

The horizontal menu bar area is LIMITED. If you need more links, use the left column area!

Adding New Pages to Your Web/Link bars

Open a page that has the layout the way you want it, then go to File/Save As. Save the page under a new name - be sure to change the page title as well! Then, go to Navigation View and drag your new page into the navigation structure.

Deleting Pages from Your Web

Right-click on the pages you wish to delete in your Folder List, in Folder View, or in Navigation View, then select "Delete."

Renaming Pages

If you would like to use an existing page but want to rename it, you may easily do this in Folders View. Right-click on the file name and/or the page title and choose "Rename" to rename your file.

Changing Layout

We have formatted the tables so that this page will look good and resize in Netscape and Internet Explorer. If you wish to change the layout, please follow these instructions.

About this page layout
This page has been very carefully formatted with different nesting tables so that it resizes both vertically and horizontally. Do not drag on any table lines - you may "freeze" the page so that it no longer resizes properly.

Adding other columns to the page
We suggest that you do not directly add columns to this layout, as you may accidentally "freeze" the page so that it no longer resizes. Instead, delete the page template content, then go to Table/Insert/Table to add your own table in the center area. You may click within a table and go to Table > Select > Table to get a better idea of the table structure of this page.

FrontPage 2000

If you're using FrontPage 2000, the link bars will look like
[ xxxxx ] [ xxxxx ].
